Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses are seeing a big boost this holiday season, thanks to Oprah Winfrey featuring them in her “Favorite Things 2024” gift guide. Oprah’s recommendations often lead to strong sales, known as the “Oprah Effect.”

She called the glasses a great gift for “travelers, techies, and trendsetters,” highlighting features like translating menus, navigating new places, playing music, taking photos, and even answering calls.

The Oprah Effect is in full effect this holiday season.

Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently said the glasses have been more popular than expected and that demand is still high. A special clear version, launched in September at $429, sold out fast and is now reselling for over $1,000.

Meta’s CFO Susan Li shared that the company is adjusting its plans to keep up with the success of the glasses. Francesco Milleri, CEO of EssilorLuxottica (the company that makes Ray-Bans), believes smart glasses could one day replace smartphones.

For now, Oprah’s endorsement is adding to the excitement, bringing even more attention to Meta’s popular Ray-Ban smart glasses this season.
