General Motors (GM) unveiled a striking all-electric Chevrolet Corvette concept car on Monday, marking the opening of its new design studio in England.
The concept comes equipped with a sleek, aerodynamic exterior, leaning toward a futuristic IMSA race car aesthetic while subtly nodding to its heritage with a split window reminiscent of the iconic 1963 Sting Ray.
GM stated that this concept – a “design study” not slated for production – and the new studio underscore its renewed commitment to Europe. This includes scaling its Cadillac EV operations and preparing for the launch of Corvette sales across the region.
The unveiling occurs amid ongoing global trade tensions and tariffs, including those between the US and Europe. This European push marks GM’s attempt to re-establish its presence in the region following the 2017 sale of its Opel division to what is now Stellantis.
Automakers like GM often use concept vehicles to gauge customer interest, showcase innovative technologies, and signal future design directions for their vehicles and brands.
