Wear OS users have waited nearly a decade to control their Ford vehicles from their smartwatches. Now, the FordPass app has launched on Wear OS, finally bringing those features to the platform.

In 2015, Ford introduced its first Apple Watch app, “MyFord,” which let users access vehicle controls and status information from their smartwatch. At the same time, Android Wear was also supported. However, in 2016, Ford shifted to the “FordPass” app, quickly adding Apple Watch support while leaving Wear OS behind.

FordPass is now available on Wear OS, which quietly launched in November. The app lets drivers send remote commands, check EV battery levels, and find parking locations. However, as TechIssuesToday notes, users need a PIN or pattern lock on their smartwatch, and the phone app must occasionally be opened.
