Amazon is turning photo libraries into shoppable marketplaces. Panos Panay, Amazon’s Devices and Services SVP, unveiled an Amazon Photos update that lets users “search your photo library to find similar products on Amazon.”
In an X post, Panay showcased a 30-second video demonstrating the feature: users can analyze photos, identify products, and get direct Amazon purchase links. “Spot something you loved at a friend’s house or a toy your kid was obsessed with?” Panay wrote. “Just search your photos, and we’ll surface relevant items.”
Amazon’s customer service page confirms the feature: a Lens icon within the Amazon Photos app facilitates shopping for recognized products.
This photo app update is the latest move by the Jeff Bezos-founded company to boost its e-commerce reach. In February, Business Insider reported Amazon’s program to pay media companies for driving product recommendation traffic, even without direct purchases.
