Prime Wardrobe, the try-before-you-buy benefit for Prime members is ending

Amazon Prime Wardrobe, the service that allowed Prime members to try on clothing, shoes, and accessories at home before buying, will be discontinued in the coming weeks. The company has confirmed the last day to place orders using this benefit is January 31st.

In a statement, Amazon cited the program’s limited reach and the growing use of AI-powered features like virtual try-on and personalized size recommendations as factors in the decision.

‘Given the combination of Try Before You Buy only scaling to a limited number of items and customers increasingly using our new AI-powered features… to make sure they find the right fit, we’re phasing out the Try Before You Buy option,’ the spokesperson said.

Amazon launched Prime Wardrobe in 2018, offering a convenient way for customers to try on clothes before committing to a purchase. However, as online shopping and generous return policies have increased, companies have sought to reduce the costs associated with returns.

Amazon emphasized that customers will still enjoy free returns on all apparel and that this change will simplify the shopping experience with a wider selection and faster delivery.
