The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced a recall of nearly 22,000 Tesla Cybertrucks due to potential malfunctions with windshield wipers and improperly secured trunk bed trim.

The NHTSA said over 11,000 Cybertrucks could be affected by an electrical overload that could cause the windshield wipers to fail to operate. NHTSA also warns that a loose sail applique on the truck bed can detach and become a projectile, causing a collision for following motorists.

This isn’t the first time Cybertruck’s safety has been called into question. In March, a viral social media post alleged a “catastrophic failure” involving a Cybertruck with a family onboard, with brakes and steering malfunctioning. This incident, while unconfirmed, coincides with the current recall addressing potential electrical issues that could impact critical systems like brakes.

Additionally, in December, a video showed a Cybertruck stuck on a snowy hill and towed by a Ford F-150. While reports suggested a “software issue” at the time, the current recall highlights potential software glitches affecting core functionalities like traction control.
