Finding information on Reddit just got smarter.
The company announced Wednesday that its new AI-powered conversational interface, “Reddit Answers” (currently U.S.-only), now uses Google Gemini AI to power its search.
This integration allows users to ask questions and quickly receive summarized insights and curated recommendations directly from Reddit conversations, with links to explore further.
Reddit’s SVP of Infrastructure, Matt Snelham, highlighted that this integration of Google Cloud’s Vertex AI Search brings Google’s innovative search technology to the Reddit community.
By integrating Gemini, Reddit aims to better compete with generative AI models trained on its data. The U.S.-only (English web and iOS) feature has received varied user reviews, with some noting similarities to Grok AI while others find it helpful for general information, like “how to clean rusty cast iron.”
