Apple Updates AirPods Max With Lossless Audio & More

1 Min Read

AirPods Max with USB-C get a nice audio boost next month. Apple’s iOS 18.4 update adds 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio, so music sounds just as the artist intended, preserving the original recordings.

This means you’ll hear songs on Apple Music’s 100 million+ lossless tracks with a more accurate and immersive feel, especially with Personalized Spatial Audio.

Plus, lag gets really low, matching your Mac, iPad, or iPhone’s built-in speakers. This comes in April, but only for the USB-C model.

If you have the Lightning version, this is a good reason to think about upgrading. Also, Apple’s now selling a $39 USB-C to 3.5mm cable but you can get it on Amazon for $9. It lets you plug into any 3.5mm audio source, which was missing when the USB-C AirPods Max came out last year.
