A recent CIRP report shows that while more Android users are switching to iPhones, it’s not all good news for Apple. According to CIRP’s latest study, 17% of new iPhone buyers switched from Android in the June quarter, a five-year high. This is a big jump from 10% in June 2023.
However, this surge in switchers may be partly why iPhone 15 sales are weaker than those of the iPhone 14. CIRP suggests that Android users often seek a fresh experience and good value rather than the latest high-end model from Apple.
Another point from CIRP is that with more Android users switching to iPhones, fewer existing iPhone users are upgrading. This has traditionally been a strong point for Apple, as loyal customers often update their devices regularly.
Comparing this new data to previous March quarter data from CIRP reveals that the 17% Android switcher percentage for Q2 is the highest since 2017 when it reached 21%.
