According to 9to5Google, and credit to The SpAndriod for breaking the story, this move signals TikTok as a potential competitor to Instagram’s core strength: photo-based social media.
The app aims to connect users with similar interests who enjoy sharing photos. Additionally, TikTok will offer an option to easily transfer your photo posts between the main TikTok app and your profile on the new app.
While the code mentions an upcoming “TikTok Photos” launch, a specific date remains unannounced. The code also revealed several potential icons for the new app.
