Since its launch, Google’s Gemini feature on iOS has only been available within the main Google Search app. But now, at least one iPhone user has found a separate “Google Gemini” app in the App Store that includes the new “Gemini Live” feature.
With this new app, you’ll get a Gemini icon on your home screen, offering the message: “Unlock the power of Google AI on your iPhone.” Previously, you had to open the Google app and switch to the “Gemini” tab to access it. In September, Google updated its app widget, allowing one-tap access to Gemini from the home screen.
The “Google Gemini” app listing now shows support for Gemini Live, a feature not yet included in the main Google app. One user who downloaded the app demonstrated the live voice feature, which stays active even as you use other apps.
So far, this app has only been reported as available in the Philippines, and the listing does not appear in the U.S. App Store, suggesting Google is testing it in select regions before a broader release.
Currently, Gemini’s functions on iPhone within the Google app match what’s available on gemini.google.com, but it doesn’t have the updated design seen on Android. With the standalone app, Google might roll out updates more quickly. As a note, Google Assistant is already a separate app on iOS.
