Tesla’s Cybertruck is back in the news with its sixth recall since launching just a year ago. This time, 2,431 units are affected, specifically 2024 models built between November 6, 2023, and July 30, 2024. Tesla reports that these trucks have faulty drive inverters, which could cause some issues.
According to Tesla, “If the inverter stops producing torque, the driver loses the ability to accelerate, leading to a loss of propulsion and potentially increasing the risk of a collision.”
Not great for anyone looking for that trademark Tesla drive!
This recall is a bit more hands-on than the last one in October, when 27,185 Cybertrucks were recalled because of a delay in the rearview camera feed—a problem that was fixed with a quick over-the-air update. In this case, Tesla will need to physically replace the drive inverter, a fix they’re offering free of charge.
This year, Cybertruck recalls have also included a sticky accelerator pedal in April and some loose trim pieces and defective windshield wipers in June. It’s been quite a ride for the Cybertruck, but Tesla’s working to keep things on track.
