Tesla plans to launch its fully upgraded V4 Supercharger stations next year, which will support up to 500kW charging for electric vehicles (EVs) and 1.2MW for its Semi trucks.
Permits for the new sites are underway, and these stations will include upgraded electronics for faster charging, especially for vehicles like the Cybertruck and other EVs.
While V4 Supercharger stalls started rolling out in Europe and parts of the U.S. last year, they were limited to the 250kW capabilities of V3 Superchargers.
The new V4 stalls will offer physical payment terminals, longer cords to reach different EV designs without blocking other spots, and CCS connectors—so no need to bring an adapter. Each V4 cabinet can power up to eight stalls, making them faster and more efficient.
This upgrade will benefit EVs from manufacturers like Porsche, Hyundai, and Kia, which currently charge slower on V3 Superchargers due to their higher voltage requirements. Tesla’s improved infrastructure aims to deliver faster, more versatile charging for a wider range of EVs.
