Good news for shoppers in South Africa!

Amazon is launching Black Friday in South Africa to add new energy to its major Black Friday shopping event, which is popular across the country. Shoppers can browse deals daily on the Amazon app or website, with some great deals and offers available for only 24 hours.

The sale includes a wide range of items, from electronics and toys to kitchen gadgets and beauty products. Featured brands include Apple, Sony, Garnier, and local favorites like Defy and Mellerware.

Running from November 1 to December 2, this extended sale period—covering Black Friday and Cyber Monday—allows shoppers to save up to 50% on select items. Many are starting early to avoid the holiday rush.

Robert Koen, Managing Director of Amazon Sub-Saharan Africa, shared that the early start gives shoppers more time to find great deals and skip year-end stress.

Black Friday is a major event in South Africa, with last year’s sales hitting over R11.3 billion, largely in electronics, clothing, and home goods. Online shopping continues to grow as shoppers seek convenience.

To improve the experience, Amazon.co.za offers free standard delivery on select items, with extended delivery hours until 8 p.m. in Johannesburg and Cape Town. There are over 3,000 pickup points nationwide for added convenience.

Amazon’s 30-day return policy allows easy returns via home pickup or drop-off, making holiday shopping smooth and flexible. With deals lasting all month, Amazon aims to become a key player in South Africa’s holiday shopping market, setting the stage for future sales events.
