Back in October 2019, pop diva Lady Gaga went viral for tweeting “what’s fortnight”. The hilariously honest question (coupled with the misspelling) got a staggering 25 thousand comments and 880 thousand likes. Now, nearly five years later, she is headlining the second season of Fortnite Festival, Fortnite’s Rock Band/Guitar Hero-style rhythm game arm, launched late last year.
Lady Gaga’s official Twitter (now X) account retweeted the 2019 post to announce her involvement with the festival. That same announcement also unveiled the “Born This Way” singer’s Fortnite avatar and cheekily corrected the typo in the original post.
With this collaboration, players will be able to access most of Gaga’s best hits through Jam Tracks. Playable on a “Chromatica”-inspired stage, players can now perform everything from early hits like “Just Dance” and “Bloody Mary” to recent tracks like “Stupid Love” and “Rain on Me.” For 1,800 V-Bucks, they can also purchase the Premium Reward Track upgrade.
Those who wish to emulate Gaga’s glamorously idiosyncratic look would be pleased with the “Poker Face” and Gaga-themed cosmetics, featuring the Enigmatic Gaga Outfit, an iconic purple bodysuit designed by celebrity designer Nange Magro. The free track will include Woodworker Drums, an aura, and two new emotes. Three new jam tracks will also be introduced on the platform.
Plans for Gaga’s Fortnite foray have been in the works for some time. Fans first leaked the possibility of her involvement from court documents obtained during developer Epic Games’ court battle with Apple way back in 2020. With this launch, Gaga follows in the footsteps of The Weeknd, the first Fortnite Festival headliner in 2023.
