The news that should excite anyone expecting to buy a luxury EV soon is the price reductions made by Lucid Motors. The California-based automaker renowned for its sleek and high-performance electric vehicles recently announced that it would slash prices across its Air sedan lineup. This strategic decision aims to democratize the ownership of luxury electric cars, making them more attainable for a broader audience.

Lucid vehicles included in price reduction

This announcement included a price reduction of the entry-level Lucid Air Pure RWD, now available at $71,475, which includes destination and documentation charges. This adjustment, amounting to a $7,500 drop in price, positions the Pure RWD as a compelling option for those seeking both range and power. The RWD version has an impressive 410 miles of range and 430 horsepower, putting it among the most powerful RWD EVs on the market right now.

Lucid Air Touring will now start at $77,900, down from $85,900

But the price cuts don’t stop there. The Lucid Air Touring, which offers a remarkable range of 411 miles and 620 horsepower, sees a substantial $8,000 decrease, now priced at $77,900. This competitive pricing brings it closer to its main rival, the Tesla Model S Dual Motor, which now starts at $71,090 after Tesla lowered its prices towards the end of last year.

Lucid Air Grand Touring get a small price cut

Even the top-tier Lucid Air Grand Touring, renowned for its massive 819 horsepower and the 500-mile range, also got a price adjustment. With a $1,000 reduction, it now stands at $109,900, offering best-in-class performance at a slightly more accessible price than before. It is still somewhat more expensive than the Model S Plaid, but remember, the Lucid offers way more in terms of build quality and range than the Plaid.

No price budge on Lucid Air Sapphire

Amidst these price adjustments, the top-spec Lucid Air Sapphire maintains its hefty $250,575 price tag. However, with its staggering 1,234 horsepower and the ability to do 0 to 60 in just 1.89 seconds, this spec still commands supercar performance that justifies the premium price. EV lovers who want a car that fast would be willing to pay that premium, considering the other options available on the market and what you get with the Lucid.

Final thoughts

Despite these price cuts, the Lucid Air lineup still falls short of qualifying for federal EV tax credits. However, Lucid is sweetening the deal by incentivizing home charging. New owners will receive a $1,000 allowance toward purchasing Lucid charging accessories, promoting the convenience and cost-effectiveness of home charging solutions.

Lucid vehicles come with two years or 24,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance, reflecting their commitment to a hassle-free ownership experience. This aligns with the inherent advantage of electric vehicles: they generally require less maintenance than gasoline-powered cars.
