Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Starting March 14th, Hulu will no longer allow account sharing with people outside your household. This new policy applies to both new and existing subscribers. While Hulu hasn’t revealed exactly how they’ll track account sharing, they’ve warned that violating the new rules could mean losing access to the service.

This move follows efforts by many streaming services to curb the practice, which is seen as a barrier to subscriber growth. Motivated by Netflix’s success in adding over 14 million new subscribers in just seven months with this strategy, Hulu and other platforms adopted similar measures.

All three streaming platforms – Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ – clearly state in their user agreements that sharing account credentials (like username and password) to impersonate someone else is strictly prohibited.

To ensure fair play and adherence to their terms of service, Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ might analyze user account activity. This aims to identify password sharing beyond the authorized household. Violating these rules could result in limited access or even account termination.
