Over 100 million in 100+ countries now jam ad-free with YouTube Music & Premium.

Following strong Q4 earnings, Alphabet announced that YouTube and Google subscriptions, including YouTube Premium (ad-free videos), YouTube Music (streaming), YouTube TV (live TV), and Google One (cloud storage), brought in a staggering $15 billion in revenue for 2023.

While YouTube celebrates reaching 100 million subscribers across both YouTube Music and YouTube Premium, the figure includes users on free trials. The company hasn’t revealed how many subscribe to each service individually. However, in November 2022, they reported having 80 million paying subscribers altogether.

YouTube Premium users have enjoyed several upgrades in the past year: effortless switching between devices for uninterrupted viewing, sharper visuals with enhanced 1080p, and sneak peeks at new AI features. Music fans benefit from music discovery tools like “Samples”, custom radio creation, and podcasts, following the closure of Google Podcasts.

Robert Kyncl, CEO of Warner Music Group and former chief business officer at YouTube, reflected on the achievement in a statement, saying, “When we first envisioned the subscription service at YouTube, reaching 100 million customers seemed like a far-off dream. Today, it stands as another marker on a path of remarkable growth. YouTube’s continued success isn’t just beneficial for them, it contributes to the well-being of the entire music ecosystem.”
