Marvel vs. Capcom games were incredibly popular back then and were a major highlight for both franchises. Since Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite in 2017, there hasn’t been a new entry that marks the end of the fighting series’ story. However, with a remastered collection of the earlier games coming soon, it might signal a more considerable return for the legendary franchise.

According to Gizmodo, Capcom is considering reviving their Marvel vs. Capcom fighting game series. Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto shared that the company has big dreams, which include reviving old fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom and making new crossover games with SNK. However, this depends on how well people respond to their remastered game collections.

Matsumoto explained that they love these games and hope players do too. If people get interested in the old games through the remasters, there might be a chance to make new, bigger games in the future. He emphasized that Capcom and Marvel both want to bring back Marvel vs. Capcom, but they want to introduce the series to a new audience first.

The collection includes games like Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, Marvel Super Heroes, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Matsumoto has wanted to re-release these games for years, and now seems like the right time. Fighting game fans understand the importance of this collection for both the series and the larger fighting game community.

Capcom has been doing well with other games like Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter. Marvel, on the other hand, has had a lot of successful single-player games and wants a big multiplayer game to succeed too. If the remasters don’t do well, there might still be a chance to include Marvel characters in other games like Street Fighter 6.

The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC later this year. Until then, we’ll have to dream and hope they get this done.
