Over the last decade, Meta has been among the market leaders in artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. Now that we are in the new era of generative AI, it is not surprising that Meta is gradually integrating generative AI capacities into several of its products, including WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.

For instance, US users can now engage with Meta AI by clicking the “Create an AI chat” option when starting a new chat on any of Meta’s messaging platforms.   Meta now wants to take this a step further by integrating these AI capabilities directly into the WhatsApp search bar.

According to a recent report by Wabetainfo, the latest WhatsApp beta version shows an option that could allow users to ask Meta AI questions straight from the WhatsApp search bar. This new version of WhatsApp has an “Ask Meta AI” prompt in the search bar which users can click to engage with Meta’s AI model.

This feature will make it a lot easier to interact with Meta AI compared to having to start a new chat every time you have questions for Meta AI. Wabetainfo reported that Meta AI will even offer some kickstart users’ queries that you can click to quickly start a conversation.

Ask Meta AI” feature is still in development – we’ll have to wait a little longer

Despite appearing in the beta version, the “Ask Meta AI” feature in the WhatsApp search bar is still in development and won’t be available even for beta users as of now. However, this feature should be functional in the next couple of weeks when Meta rolls out another beta update.

It will take even longer for this feature to be rolled out to the general public, as Meta would want to be sure of its reliability before granting masses access. So, if you’re looking forward to using Meta AI directly from the WhatsApp search bar, be ready to wait for a couple more weeks or even months.
