This new feature will launch for U.S. users on Election Day, November 5. It will bring real-time updates on election results straight to your device. You will no longer need to refresh news sites or unlock your phone to stay informed.

To enable it, you’ll need an iPhone 14 Pro or newer running iOS 16.1 or an iPad with iPadOS 17 or later. Simply open the Apple News app and tap the “Follow Live” button when prompted. Setting it up in advance ensures you’ll get every update as coverage begins.

Once active, the Live Activity appears as an interactive widget on your Lock Screen, letting you tap in for more details anytime. On iPhone 14 Pro and newer models, you’ll also see updates in the Dynamic Island at the top of your screen, so you can keep track of results even while multitasking.
