Apple has expanded its Self-Service Repair program to include more parts for the iPhone 16, like displays, cameras, batteries, and back glass.

Apple is making it easier for iPhone 16 owners to repair their devices by adding more parts to its Self-Service Repair program. Now, users can buy parts like screens, cameras, batteries, and back glass directly from Apple. This program began in 2021 as Apple responded to pressure from consumers who wanted more repair options.

The cost for a replacement iPhone 16 screen starts at $279, while a new camera costs $169. The Pro and Pro Max versions are priced higher, with screens at $349 and cameras at $249. Batteries start at $99. Apple also offers credits to users who return old parts for recycling, and users can rent special tools for repairs if needed.

This change reflects growing concerns over tech companies limiting repairs, which can lead to more waste. Apple initially argued that third-party repairs could damage devices, but consumer demand and environmental concerns have led to more openness. The iPhone 16 recently earned a 7 out of 10 repairability score from iFixit, showing it’s easier to fix than previous models.
