Amazon Prime Video will start limiting password sharing in India in 2025, just like Netflix.
Starting in January 2025, Prime Video users can log in from up to five devices. However, only two of those devices can be TVs. According to Mint, this change was shared via email with subscribers.
“You and your household can use Prime Video on 5 devices as part of your membership,” the email said. “From January 2025, only 2 of those devices can be TVs.”
Amazon also said users can manage devices in Settings or buy another Prime membership to use more devices.
Right now, Prime members can log in from up to 10 devices without limits on TVs. Even though five devices will still be allowed, the 2-TV limit might be problematic for some users.
Amazon also announced that ads will start playing during shows and movies in 2025. However, they said there will be fewer ads than on regular TV or other streaming services. Amazon plans to offer an ad-free Prime tier in India soon.
