Have you ever fumbled for your hotel key card in a crowded purse or backpack, worried about losing it and facing a replacement fee? Introducing a solution: Google Wallet now lets you ditch the plastic key card! No more worrying about lost or demagnetized key cards or walking down to the hotel front desk and asking for a replacement key card. Google Wallet keeps your digital key safe, offering a convenient and secure way to access your hotel room.

According to 9to5Google, you can securely store your hotel room key on your phone and use it to unlock your door. Additionally, this digital key grants access to other areas within the hotel that typically require a keycard.

Only a few hotels, like Clarion Hotel Post in Gothenburg, Sweden, now support Google Wallet for digital keys. We expect this to become more widespread in the future and can imagine a space where you can download or use your existing Google Wallet for your digital key. It’s as easy as adding other passes. This certainly feels a little delayed, but we love the possibility of making our hotel stays easier.
