Usher continues to steal the hearts of millions with his music and dance moves. With 243ooo views and counting, Usher reminds us of that “Good Good” in his new music video with 21 Savage and Summer Walker.
The music video opens up with an epic shot of the trio in their power poses and the city in the backdrop. Once the song starts, you’re quickly reminded of Usher’s unique style and signature chain. Sporting a durag, and dark shades, you’re reminded that Usher got a little mack in him.
The outfit selection fits the bill as it’s intriguing and blends well with the set design. The back-and-forth play between outfits fits the messaging of the constant change and dynamics in relationships.
Usher can be seen in a stylish tracksuit and deliberate pieces to give the video a little edge and pop. Of course, Summer Walker is nothing short of stunning, especially in the bedroom scene and 21 Savage keeps it simple with his style for the audience.
Without reading too much into the lyrics, the song pulls on situations where things probably didn’t work out with an ex but there’s still love there.
“Who knew it’d be like this? Usually, my exes turn to enemies” harps on that further and the desire to be around this person despite certain inevitabilities in relationships.
The music video feels like it’s loosely tied to Usher’s 2014 song and video, New Flame featuring R&B star Chris Brown. If you haven’t watched that video, I’ve linked it down below. One word–incredible!
The set design works incredibly well as it speaks to the brighter and darker sides of relationships. 21 Savage on this song feels almost perfect as he graces the theme of the video. Tell me you’re from Atlanta without telling me you’re from Atlanta fits the bill as he rocks an Atlanta Braves hat.
Overall, the video does the song justice and gives us a fresh perspective. It’s sure to be a favorite from fans everywhere.
