Recently, Google updated the app with a new layout to make finding interactive content and video info easier. On TVs, accessing video details would block the screen with a card. This update fixes that, making info like likes, comments, and descriptions easier to see without interrupting what you’re watching.
The new update significantly improves multitasking while watching YouTube on your TV. Previously, clicking the video title would bring up a large card with information like likes, views, and comments, completely obscuring the video itself. This made it difficult to check details while still watching the content quickly.
YouTube has revamped this system in response to user feedback. Now, clicking the title shrinks the video and displays the information card side-by-side. This allows you to seamlessly access video details like comments or like counts without ever fully losing sight of the video you’re enjoying.
It’s unclear whether this update arrives through an app download or a behind-the-scenes tweak (server-side change). However, we learned that the new layout is already live on our Toshiba M550LP with Google TV, and we expect it to soon reach other TVs with popular operating systems like Samsung’s Tizen and LG’s WebOS.
